Runescape vrs Luminary
Runescape has a two tier system; P2P and F2P. Bots galore in free hardly any in Pay.
Luminary has it slightly better as there isn't the emphasis on "better service & more playing area for paying members.
Only down side for Luminary is this: game being free - we get all the ad ware. Price still there.
(Reminders to clean up hidden ads for a faster/smoother game play regularly)
As in the game it self - the graphics both are very good. Luminary has only one camera view while Runescape has surround. Downside to Runescape camera angles is that it doesn't have zoom.

Just a start I'm sure there's more pro's and cons. Mind u Runescape isn't in beta and service quests and updates are constantly incoming. With players being mods and cleaning the forums makes it a cleaner looking site. Luminary forms is just beginning - we'll see.

I really enjoy making items for people. And in this game manufacturing is a big part of it.

Hope they fix the lot's of bugs in Luminary quick.

If you like runescape so much, why are you here? 200k people playing at a time? I bet 1 in 4 of them are macros -_-. As for which game has a better community, if runescape is comprised of players like yourself, then Luminary wins hands down. Hmm, what can I say? I haven't played this game yet and I highly doubt that It will be as good as many of you say. Now, which game is better runescape or luminarie? If i was to pick 10 persons randomly and have them try both runescape and luminarie....the majority will say that luminarie is the better game. But In reality runescape is better than luminarie. The majority of the players are kids and they have never player classic snes games like super mario, zelda, dd, ss, etc. Kids nowdays start out playing games like halo, ut 2004, cod, etc and they expect all games to have great graphics and if the game has bad graphics like runescape the game sucks. Kind of agree with you on this. Most people here prefer luminary simply because they're loyal Ijji fans:). However, I have tried Runescape for some time, but I don't dislike it because of the graphics. There's a slew of reasons and here's just a few major ones: One of the worst gaming communities I've ever come across; plagued with so many unexperienced moderators; almost non existent customer service; random events that are supposed to combat macros don't work (jagex is well aware of it too) and are actually more of a nuiscance to real players; bugs, both serious and moderate are fixed months or years after they were reported; and the list goes on...

I've played it on and off for a while (agility was favourite skill, but forgot where I stopped at) when some friends asked me to, but I'm sure I've played it long enough to realize its not as great as they say it is. Luminary also focuses on other aspects besides combat, some of which Jagex will never implement, such as politics. I'm not a diehard supporter of Luminary, but for some reason I find it more enjoyable than I did Runescape.

well its alot alike but in runescape you are you and you hav to trade how "good" you are. This is a pretty competitive game with different rankings as well as artisant. In runescape you can't make a high grade runescimmy or an enchanted D hally [5] Fire. This game owns to the extent of NOT another runescape but more of litle of RuneScape, WoW, and SilkRoad. However, at the same time being extensively different from other RPG games as well. Not only that, but also, with artisant system, we know who can make your weapon. With manifacture request, you know u're not getting scam. With different attack stats, you know how strong your weapon. With Information system, you're more inform and know your items worth. Do not be stupid, this game is way better try it. Z3R0 for recommend please. It's just a tip for information is not a must, but It'd be cool. I forgot to mention, you don't get horses to ride on in RuneScape :)

oookay.. first ill respond to this. The guy was trying to say they have 200,000 online at a time... im pretty sure runescape has over 100 mil accounts... most are macro accounts or second accounts or crud like that. and ive played runescape, im not a botter, child molester or a thick skulled kid.

Ive played runescape for 4 years.

Ive suffered being pked in wilderness and losing all my stuff.

Im sure ive played out that game to its full potential. And in my opinion, it made me feel unfinished. There were too many people in the game and it wasn't FUN, i was occupied but i didn't have FUN.


And ive played luminary for 1 week.

Its in beta and i can tell this games potential is HUGE










An mmo, where towns are player owned, with an amazing economy? very interesting. I started the game and that same day i was hooked. that first day i played 7 hours straight. runnin on caffiene:confused2: .

Luminary fills that gap that runescape couldn't. i feel more important in luminary with a great community.
I dont feel like im wasting my time.

Ok here we go, I played three years on rs , got 126 140m+ exp 1900+ total level.. rs is in general way better then Luminary even tho it has its ups and downs such as macro, the only reason i even considerd playing luminary was because my clan members made me try it out , sure its fun.. but runescape seriously craps all over it...idc if this is beta it just doesnt have that quality that rs has.. the pking in lum is sooo messed up you can live forever if u bring enough pots , at least in rs you had to click ,then wait , then click to eat.

Dont be dissing rs if u like luminary seriously lol.. and people who say luminary is grown up.. its basically the same as rs apart from the fact it has "politics" in rs , our politics are the stakers/merchents/pkers/trainers you are one of the 4 or combined. Personaly i was ALL of them and enjoyed my time imesnsly in rs.

And onto guilds with lum.. like wtf? lame.. in rs a guild was a place you could join when you acheived certin lvls or completed quests. We had CLANS , and in the world of gaming RUNESCAPE has no doubltly the best CLAN community. If you acctualy reached lvl 100 or so and joined a clan, its more then just a game from that point.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but saying that Runescape's community is friendlier than that of Luminary's is a little extreme unless you're blind or just in denial. D: Maybe thats why some players didn't find it so fun? Oh, and you're right: It probably is more than just a game when you reach lvl 100 when they finally treat you with respect, but not many are willing to play that long if that's the way the game is.

I have been playing runescape for 6 years, and was ranked about 400 on the highscores. Its gone really downhill for a longtime with bots and so many people selling gold on ebay and stuff. Their efforts to remove the bots are really starting to mess up the gameplay to the point where its downright annoying.

The cons of runescape are that every skill is leveled up by hours of mind numbing repetetive motions and after a while it starts to kill your wrist. Frankly runescapes combat system really blows and theres no balance, everyone just uses a whip to fight. Boring. Oh and whoevers idea it was to use runes for magic instead of a mana system was a moron. But still after frequent breaks I cant help going back after a while.

Luminary isnt as repetetive, but not having storage for things I want to hang onto is kind of annoying, yes i know there are workarounds but its still slightly annoying. Also, clicking on the same monster over and over again trying to hunt for materials gets old fast and I'm still confused about the exact way that the experience and levels work as far as manufacturing, and that minigame which seems pretty useless.


I dont really think you can compare the two games all that much. Runescape is mostly based on doing skills. Luminary has skills sure, but its implemented in such a different way that it makes for a totally different gaming experience.

Since this thread is still here, might as well put 2 interesting things about RS worth mentioning. Did you know that on February 22 (not this year), Jagex legalized luring? Former rs players might know what I'm talking about (its a form of scamming). To make matters worse, they posted this official ruling in their forums only, and you could only find it in the PK section XD. It was changed a few weeks later after outraged members started leaving.
Oh yeah, if you still play Runescape, they did remove customer support, unless you're trying to get your password back. I brought this up on their forums twice but both threads were locked.

I played RS for like a year, got a whip and torags, kept going on and off it cause it gets boring after a while, but now i've just stopped playing it all together, they ruined pking all together! you don't run the risk of getting pked in wilderness now, and the staking in dual arena has been minimized to 3k gold? But luminary is a much better game, to get the best weapons in RS you need to kill monsters, but for here you need to level up your skills, and the best makeable armour on RS is only rune, which sucks at higher levels, and the wepons here are much better, on RS you just have to make smithing a high level to make every wepon/armour, for here you need to train all the skills one by one instead. And on luminary the towns, horses, politics, summons, ever changing economy owns RS's 24/7 fishing/mining/pking.
