Well, we all know that we have choices between which weapons we want to fight with and how we want to with them, but wheres the bonus? For instance, sword users can block, attack and block at the same time, do multiple things other weapons can not, but where does it help you become better than others? It doesn't. You can still be beaten easily by a level 1. Ya see, if they had abilities to different levels, in this example, Sword skill level. Sure, you have your moves that you have to learn to do, but you all have the same sword and can all die just as easily as the next guy. Well.. Wouldn't you like all your hard work to go to use?
Lets say you get X-Amount of 'Skill Points(random name)' for leveling up. You use these special points to level up your characters strength in certain classes. For instance, EVERYBODY uses guns! Well, you would want your gun level to be quite high, eh? But, what if your a sword enthusiast? Sword level higher! What if you like an even combo? Your a well rounded player in both fields!

Sure we have daggers and kodachis to choose from, but swords are just an example. This brings new fighting styles to the game, new 'pure' fighting styles to the game(pure as in purely one skill, nothing else). But, seeing as people would find some way to make one skill impossibly high and over-powered, you would want limitations depending on your level, correct? Lets say you get to level 30, you use your points purely on sword, your sword level can be what, your level or something higher? I don't know, haven't thought that far into this.

Comments? Ideas?

I think nobody is in a mood to read that much.

No offence.

Edit: i took time to read it, I say it's not a bad idea altought its abit faked from Runescape and tibia.
I like it the way it is.

I think it's good idea, but making it won't happen and it as it's bad sides. In total I wouldn't recommend it to be done, but maybe someone finds more good sides from it.

I've never played Tibia and this is nothing like Runescape.

i can already see this being abused by swapping to get higher skill points and such, not a bad idea.

No.

Sometimes I feel like k-styling, sometimes I feel like using a dagger... don't want to be stuck with one or the other... or somehow be weaker than other people because I use both on occasion?

Thats why you set limitations on how high the skill can be at your current level. Say you get level 30 and your skill level has to level 30 or something around it.

It would be too much like an rpg and maiet said that they tried stats and such in the beginning but broke away from that idea.

this isn't an rpg though. maybe points to unlock cooler items?

Yeah, I kind of figured this would never happen. Just thinking out loud. Harry has a good idea though. Training on certain things gives you special points to purchase very special items.

Another idea that came to me is that in quest(with a very low drop probability, lulz), smaller monsters drop level 1-5 items(temp. of course, lulz), as they get highered level as monsters, they drop better items(6-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21-25[boss items]). It would draw people to quest more, even at lower levels. It would bring a new experience and look to GunZ.

But of course, with different quest comes different weapons/armor!
