Dear Drift City Crews,
We're proud to announce that soon we'll be opening a feature that many of you have been waiting for: Channel Battle! In Channel Battle, crews will race to make their mark on Mittron Island, earn Mito, bragging rights, and even the performance parts of other crews!
How Channel Battle works:
Channel Battle is a weekly battle event in which crews race each other in Battle Zone-style races. At the end of the event period, the most dominant crew Captures the Channel.
Benefits of Capturing a channel:
-The crew leader receives a percentage of all the Mito that is spent at all of the Mittron Filling Stations in the captured channel.
-The crew's name appears at each Mittron Filling Station.
-The crew's name and logo appear on the Channel Select Screen.
-The crew wins bragging rights as one of the dominant crews in Drift City.
Two types of Channel Battle:
There are two types of Channel: Major channels (Channel 1 and 2) and Minor Channels (Channels 3-10). Similarly there are two types of Channel Battle: Major and Minor.
Minor Channel Battles
In a Minor Channel, the percentage gained from Mittron Fueling Station proceeds is 20%.
Major Channel Battles
In a Major Channel, the percentage gained from Fueling Station proceeds is increased to 50%. The most competitive crews will most likely battle for these channels.
Parts Gain/Loss
A unique feature of Major Channel Battles are the potential gain and loss of parts. If you win a Channel Battle against another crew, your crew's leader will obtain one randomly selected part from each of the other crew's competing cars! Likewise, a loss in a Major Channel Battle will lead to each of your team members losing one part! Parts are selected randomly from the equipped parts inventory of the losing crew. They are immediately placed in the Crew Leader's inventory and no one else's. Crew Leaders: Make sure you have enough free space in your inventory. In an 8v8 battle, you may receive eight items!
Put a lot of consideration into which parts you want to use during the Channel Battle. You might want to consider using your lesser valued parts, but you won't be racing to your fullest potential!
How to Participate in Channel Battle:
Channel Battle is a feature designed for use by Drift City Crews. To participate in Channel Battle, you must be a member of a crew. Additionally, the Crew Leader or First Class member must be present.
Flow:
In a Channel Battle race, there are two teams: the Defending Crew, and the Attacking Crew. The winner of the previous Channel Battle is designated as the Defending Crew. The Attacking Crew is new to the Channel Battle.
The Defending and Attacking Crew race. If the Defending Crew wins, then the Attacking Crew has failed to capture the channel, and can no longer race to capture it. At this point the crew must leave the channel and attack a different channel. If the Attacking Crew wins, both Crews must race again. If the Attacking Crew wins the 2nd race, they will capture the channel and will become the new Defending Crew.
Entering the Channel Battle
To participate in Channel Battles, enter the Crew Center. Then click Enter Channel Battle or press the 2 key. The Channel Battle screen will appear. Click Enter Channel or press the space bar. Note: You must have the Challenge Coupon in your inventory in order to participate. Challenge Coupons can be purchased at the Parts Shop.
Now you are in the Challenge area. You aren't ready to race yet! In order to join the Channel Battle, at least four of your crew members must be present. Additionally, your crew leader or a first-class crew member must be present to initiate the challenge. This is how a crew can attempt to capture multiple channels.
Crew leaders and first-class members: to intitiate the challenge, ensure that at least four crew members are present to race, and then click the Challenge Button.
Crew leaders: Choose your first-class members wisely.
Your crew is now on the Waiting List. From here you can see other crews who are waiting to race, and you can also spectate the current race in a preview window. A normal Spectaor view is also available.
If the previous Channel Battle winner is not present to the defend, the first crew on the waiting list will be designated as the Defending Crew.
It's your turn!
As Attacking Crews on the waiting list race the Defending Crew, your crew will move up the waiting list. When your crew is at the top of the list, get ready! The race will automatically start as soon as the previous race concludes. There is no need to click the ready button.
Capturing a Channel
The Channel Battle will go through the waiting list throughout the hour. The Crew that remains at the predetermined ending time of the Channel Battle Event will capture the Channel.
The Channel Battle times will be announced several days prior to the event. On the day of the event, the Channel Battle section of the Crew Center will be opened ten minutes prior to the start of the Channel Battle. At this time you can come on with your crew, have the leader or first-class member initiate the Challenge process, and join the waiting list. Then, at the top of the hour, get ready to battle for the Channel!
Spectator Mode:
Like the Spectator mode in the Battle Zone, you can also watch the Channel Battles as they happen. To do so, go to the Crew Center during Channel Battle time, and click on any of the channels to watch crews battle for supremacy.
