Guilds applying for hunting grounds?

What is exactly the point of renting a hunting ground with the guide next to hanyang? I see some guilds doing it and they are doing it and dont know what it does.. Please someone help :P

I have the same question...i know the guide gives you some rare items unattainable by reg mobs. I applied for Tiny Thicket F1 but think maybe I need a guild to challenge my take-over in order to start building up GP to get items? I know doing Jack's quest on the floor you applied for does not work to get GP.

only way to win a hunting ground is to have the most gp when the applying period is over
-gvg other guilds
-if you lose you - gp too e.g. instead of 0 you might have -30

How u earn GP there?
