it cant be your computer, because recommended is having an 800mhz processor(you have 1.2), 512 ram(yeah you have that) and a 4th series nvidia card. You have more than recommended requirements, I think you should try to update your drivers.

What your seeing is called an artifact, and it's likely because your gfx card is overheating.

There's a few potential fixes for this:

1) CLEAN YOUR CASE. Open it up (I know, TABOO!) with a NON-MAGNETIC screwdriver, and use compressed air to blow all the dust out of the various fans. I recommend going in with a q-tip and remove the caked dust from the fan blades as well, as this improves their RPM and overall case ventilation. As long as it's not powered on, and not plugged into the wall, there's really nothing you can screw up unless you turn the compressed air can upside down and start spraying liquid frostbite everywhere, or you go Hulk Smash and break one of the fans by pressing down on it like you were trying to pack a clown car.

If you see BLACK SOOT around a fan, chances are you had a sleeve bearing fan which died, and needs to be replaced.

2) Improve your case cooling. Buy a fan, cut a hole in the case above the gfx card, bolt the fan onto that hole blowing into the case. Then buy something called a "PCI Exhaust" and mount that underneath the gfx card (in most towers the gfx's fan should be facing the ground). Obviously this means that you'd have to relocate whatever POS card that your obviously storebought computer has in that first PCI slot.

3) Neuter your gfx card. Go into the bios and turn off prewriting. If that doesn't work (or was already off or you don't have that setting) turn down the AGP slot itself to 2x or even 0x.

I admire your knowledge of computer stuff, I really do.
