D3D8 Application Error [Resolved]

If you receive this error, there may be a solution for you!

The first screenshot shows the error you receive.

From our findings, you receive this error because the resolution you set in the game Configuration(2nd Screenshot) is higher than what your video card supports. Please set your game Configuration resolution to the appropriate setting.

This may likely occur more often with widecreen monitors.

For example:

My laptop has a widescreen monitor with a max desktop resolution is 1280x800 pixels. If I set the game Configuration resolution to 1152x864 or 1280x1024, I will receive the error.

Notice the pixel height in those two settings are higher than my max desktop resolution. (800 pixels)

Hopefully this helps anyone that receives this error. If not, please reply with any info that may help us resolve this issue.

I have my res at 1280x1240 and it works just fine. The window comes out smaller, but when the game actually starts it just sets my res for the game and when I leave it resets and the small server window appears. I can browse this way.

I have a problem that it says Windows cannot access the specific path file or device. You may not have the right permissions to play. PLZ HELP!!!!
