Nerd is a word made up by Dr. Seuss. It's one of his cartoon characters.
Nerds is also a name of Willy Wonka's sugar induced goods.
Nerd in general is another butchered word used by Americans, which is then distributed globally.

I don't think anyone here on the forums fit the said descriptions. Lol.
