Right click > whisper.
You can also type out alt-codes too if you know them.
Alt codes are still in effect In-Game I believe? It only filters when making new characters.

lol alt codes. The only alt code that I'd say that should be accept would be alt+0160(Space). The rest just kills your name like numbers and underscores.
