After pressing the play button, When the game dls 11/12, a popup comes up showing, unable to download avatar_data.xfs.
Ive tried deleting the ijji folder, downloading and reinstalling gb to fix the problem, bit the error stayed. Is there an alternate solution that i can use to make the game initialize properly?

As GM_Delerium said, make sure you have enough harddrive space left on your HDD. Also, are you running on an administrator account? Does the ijji folder have restricted privilages?
Here's a manual download for the two patches you're unable to download:
http://gamedown.ijjimax.com/pub/U_GBOUND/640/avatar_data.xfs
http://gamedown.ijjimax.com/pub/U_GBOUND/640/event_txt_all.xfs
Copy and paste these into the 'apply' and 'fetch' folders that are located at C:\ijji\ENGLISH\GunBound Revolution\. Doing this will have the updater check the files, see that it's there, and skip them, thus completing your patch download. Enjoy.

P.S. These files are located on ijji's fetch fileserver. If you can't download these files manually, we may have pinpointed the problem.
Read my quote from earlier. This 'will' solve your problem, if executed correctly.

I am sorry Diabllo but that does not solve the problem. I executed it exactly as stated. I checked and I have several GB left of HDD space. My account is the Administrator account. I do not know what you mean by restricted privlidges on the iji folder but since im Administrator i don't think it matters. I downloaded the files and put them in the fetch and apply folders and it still does not work it does not recognize them and tries to download them which it can't. I also can't update my Rakion either.

Okay, my boyfriend has the same problem, and I know how to solve it. I will create a topic in a minute regarding this issue and edit this topic with a link going directly to that topic.

Dear users,
Below is technical stuff that you may or may not want to read.
I have pin-pointed the problem with the Avatar_data.xfs issue. You see, if you are recieving this error, this means you MUST UNINSTALL, DELETE THE GBNA FOLDER, DOWNLOAD A FRESH COPY, AND THEN REINSTALL THE CLIENT in order to play GunBound Revolution again. You will only get this avatar_data.xfs error IF you have not played in a while. You would only get this error if your client is currently v642 or lower. As most of you have reported, it's the second last one that fails the download (or in a new case, now the 5th one AND 2nd one)
If we take a look at the fetch code for GBNA, we will see this (and we're pretending that our "client" is version 642):
~6;447065;645
M;.\avatar.xfs;643/avatar_data.xfs;643;164216, this file is for v643.
M;.\avatar.xfs;644/avatar_data.xfs;644;164387, this file is for v644.
R;.\;644/buddy.xfs;644;88674
M;.\graphics.xfs;644/language.xfs;644;14531, this file is for v644.
M;.\graphics.xfs;645/language.xfs;645;14531, this file is for v645.
M;.\avatar.xfs;645/Valentine2007.xfs;645;726
Now, say your client is v642, it's trying to download 'avatar_data.xfs' for v643. Everything goes smoothly, and it then copies it into the 'fetch' folder, awaiting to merge with the 'avatar.xfs' file in the root directory as soon as the autopatcher finishes downloading ALL patches. Now the autopatcher attempts to download avatar_data.xfs (v644) and save it to the 'fetch' folder.. wait a minute.. there's already an avatar_data.xfs file there! What should we do? Overwrite? Nope! I still need that file! *Asplodes* "Cannot download file: avatar_data.xfs". The error isn't that it can't find it, the error is that it can't overwrite the one that's already there! The client needs both of them to patch! You see, if your client was already v643, everything would be O.K., due to it only needs to download the v644 one. Nothing would be overwritten then.
Repeat this story with language.xfs. It's the same thing.
Above is technical stuff that you may or may not want to read.
Instructions on how to fix this bug:
1. Uninstall GBNA, and delete the appropriate folder from the IJJI folder (Assuming you play other ijji games).
2. Download the latest installer by logging onto ijji, and clicking "Play Live".
3. Enjoy
Notice to ijji:
Please use this as a future reference. To avoid the client from dying by such an error, name your XFS files with a datestamp, such as:
"avatar_data03302007.xfs"
This will eliminate this entire issue with this bug, since each .xfs file that the client downloads will have a unique name to it.
I hope you all enjoy this~

Still. Doesn't. Work. Anything else?
Admin: Check.
Priviliges: Unrestricted access to the folder. Check.
HD Space: 30+GB remaining. Check
Min Sys Requirements: 512MB RAM, 1.6GHz Intel Centrino Duo-Core, 128MB Intel GMA 950 Graphics. Windows XP Pro, all software updates done. Check.
Uninstalled, and reinstalled, removing all gunbound related files and folders by hand. Firewall and Anti-Virus software currently disabled. Wireless Router firewall port forwarding opened, built-in firewall disabled. Manually downloaded the avatar_graphics.xfs and avatar_data.xfs files, put them in both the fetch and apply folders. Nothing has worked, I'm still getting the same error, over and over and over again.
This is a huge problem, and it needs to be fixed, this is ridiculous with a bunch of these steps, that don't work.

We're currently updating the installer. In about an hour (8pm PDT), try completely uninstalling and then downloading the installer (not Play Live, but the installer file from the link next to the play live button on the GB main page). Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a shot.

I uninstalled, and re-downloaded *again*, and it's *still* not working. Why doesn't ijji do something with the files that everyone is having problems with, instead of giving out repetitive instructions to uninstall and reinstall the game? I've now been unable to play for well over a month now, and it's really starting to irk me. I've been nice enough to actually put a bit of money into this game to help support it, but to see this level of support coming back, it's quite frankly disgusting.
At the very least, Delirium has the right idea, of setting the expectation that his suggestion might not work, (to which I'm very appreciative) as opposed to other people like Diabllo who come out and say "This WILL work" and lo and behold, it doesn't. I've sent a couple of e-mails to the help desk already but I've yet to receive a reply from them either...

couldn't you just make that website open for people to browse and download ALL the files from, so it's like a website? then ANYONE'S .xfs problems would be solved. THE SOLUTION IS STARING YOU IN THE FACE!!!
