Check your registry too. The most common viruses start up when Windows boots.

Start>Run> (or WinKey+R) type 'regedit'.

Then navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run

Look at the startup keys and if you see anything suspicious, check it out with google. If it is a virus, click on it once, and press Delete key.

Then, repeat the steps above, except this time, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Those 2 places are startup key locations. Registry keys placed there will run on boot/login.

Hope this helps,
Ian H.

All i see under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run is a file, not a tab to open things under it. i click on it and there's nothing there except

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

and under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

i see Optional Compnents, one file with 3 reg keys, 2 with 2. (files are (Default) size = 0, Installed, size = 1, and NoChange size = 1)

It does not tell me there what starts up on my computer.

Msconfig is ftw now?

Limewire gave me this pop up virus on the first day. I downloaded the vids that muroku likes to watch and I deleted limewire after that. Limewire lasted 7 minutes for me :d.
