I have only done this once and have been unable to duplicate but I tried to switch weapons while i was using the sniper scope and the scope stayed even though i was using a shotgun, knife, and grenades. It was rather difficult to play at this point because i was stuck on zoom mode and couldn't get out. Needless to say i met a quick death. Death fixed the bug. If i figure out how i did this i will post step by step instructions on how too do it along with screenshots. Just thought I'd send this out there as someone might know how to do it already.
