Pond's D-Style Guide

Version 1.1

Alright, so this is my first guide on GunZ and I hope you will learn a thing or two from it. I am an efficient dagger user but I am a K-Styler, and a good on at that if I made add.

I learned these moves from other users and some sites and they were not made by me.

But enough about me. Let's start off with introducing you to DAGGERS!

Daggers are very fast attacking and highly profficient when facing any style from Sprayers to Korean users.

They are easy to maneuver and very easy to learn. It takes a little practice is all.....

So there are many pros and cons as you may have learned from playing any other games.

I'll give you a list of some.

PROS
-Able to Attack fast
-Easy to move around
-Is not confusing as K-Style
-Easy to learn
-Can be used effectively against every class

....and now cons

CONS :(
-CANNOT BLOCK ANYTHING AT ALL
-Bad at wall cancelling
-Very hard fights against turtlers

And that's all the Cons I can think of. If you can think of anymore let me know.

So now you know a little about daggers. Now you need to learn some Dagger moves.

I am going to give you as many as I can think of.

Let's Start with the Easy/Newbish moves:

Push-Push-Noob

I call it the Push Push Noob because you get called noob for doing it. What you are basically doing is spamming your push button. Right after you shove the person to the ground, you shove him to the ground again and again and again right before he gets up. After he dies, he calls you a noob. Don't do this if you can avoid it.

Driving into Corner

This is very easy to do. Simply force your opponent in a corner by any means possible and just stab 'em till they die. Not push stab but stab stab. This brings up to our next move.

Spam-Stabbing

You Spam your Stabs running around and dashing around with your spams.

Merry-Go-Round

This can be translated to simply running around and around your opponent in circles until they die. Of course, adding stabs with it.

Harder Moves

JSD-This is probably one of the most common moves you will ever use in daggers. It stands for JUMP, SHOOT/SWITCH DASH. This is what you do. You jump in the air with a gun(hopefully) and you shoot. Then you switch to your dagger and dash away and repeat if necessary. This is a very effective move and quite dangerous if used right. The JSD prepares you for YoYo/Dagger Hopping and Fade Shooting, which I will talk about soon.

Dagger Flash-The Dagger Flash is an effective move just like the JSD. This helps you keep your speed and momentum going. You are just Jumping>Dashing>Stabbing>Dashing>Stabbing.
The second Dash is on the ground. After doing a Dagger Flash, you can use a JSD right after it.

Fade Shooting-This is an essential move in D-Style. This is harder than it seems and the tumbling with a gun will give you a brain-fart. Anyway, Fade Shooting is like it's name. I have learned this move from watching some other D-Style users. To start off, you do Shoot and then Tumble. Adding a Jump before shooting is useful if you want. After you shoot and tumble , you pull out your dagger. After it spins out, you dash and do a JSD or another Fade Shot. This might seem like a very horrible move, but trust me, it WORKS. It just might suck if you are using rockets. Here is the simplified verison. Jump>Tumble>Shoot>Switch to Dagger>Dash>Jump.

Dagger Hopping-Most Experienced Dagger users use this technique. It's very useful for moving and an o.k attack. You pretty much use Dash, Jump and Stab in any order possible. I usually use Jump>Dash>Stab. A nicer way of doing it would be Dash>Stab>Jump>Dash>Stab. If you want to get around easy, I would use Dash>Jump>Stab and repeat. You can Reverse Stab after this.

Reverse Stabbing-You Dash and Stab as quickly as you can and dash away. This is very effective if you want to dodge bullets and using it right after a Dagger Hop is very effective.

Dagger-Ramming-You dash and stab, dash and stab and repeat. You never, ever leave the ground while doing it.

JSSD-This is a little something I came up with. First you jump and then you want to use a rocket launcher. After that, you shoot again and dash. After the dash you can use dagger pushes or JSD. So it's simply Jump>Shoot>Shoot>Dash and any moves you can think of after it.

Hop Dash-Jump>Dash>Switch to gun>Switch to dagger>Dash. Looks very complicated?

DaggerFlying-This can train you for butterflying. It is basically a Light Step using daggers. You Jump>Dash>Stab in a circle. This is very effective against sprayers and turtlers. Again, this can be followed by using a JSD or JSSD. Follow this move with Fade Shooting and it should be very effective against K-Stylers.

DaggerFall-Push your opponent to the ground with your dagger and then get behind him for a couple of stabs. You should get behind him to Dagger Ram him or Yoyo Hop. Then again...... you can just spray him to death.

YoYo Hopping-This is a pain to learn. This can be done in any direction. This is useful to be followed up by Instafall. First you Jump to your highest and then use a dash the opposite way. Jump right back up after you hit the ground and then switch to your gun while in the air. Shoot for as long as you can but dash when you are shooting. You should be able to kinda glide to the ground. If you screw this up and tumble, just use a FS(Fade Shot). So this is what you do. Jump>Dash>Jump>Switch to gun>Shoot>Dash/Glide with your gun. If you do this fast, you shouldn't tumble after you shoot and should glide. This is much harder to do with a sword.

Wall Canceling-Jump at wall>Dash>Stab>Jump at wall>Dash>Stab. Be sure to dash and stab like .1 seconds after you Jumped at the wall.

Advanced Dagger Moves
These moves are extremely hard and take very long to do them right. I still don't get some of them very well........but then I'm like 99% K-Style. I learned the moves from my friends and the many You-Tube videos on D-Style.

Instafall-This is a very hard move. You basically stab your enemy. When you stab is maybe 45% finished, you right click. The enemy falls to the ground and the animation where they fly back is gone! You wind up for the push, GONE.

Tenth Hopping- You dash, stab, jump, switch to gun, shoot, switch, dash another way, stab, jump, switch to gun, shoot, switch. I am not sure this is the exact one since I usually change a little bit of the moves in D-Style. Using Dagger Hops, JSDs and YoYo Hops will help this move flow smoothly. Or you can do this over and over and over......

Spiking-Foward lunging starts out with you jump and then tumbling onto or at your opponent. After this is done, you can change to your dagger right after you get up. Your lunge should of brought you right next to your opponent and you use InstaFall on them. Seems very easy but VERY hard to do.

Next, I will tell you about Weapon Combos

***** =Best
*=Worst

Here are some of the most common weapons equips of dagger users:

Twin Shotguns
****
Very effective at close range and rapid shooting with them is very effective. The only problem is long range.

Revolver and Nico
***
They are both effective at far and close range but can be very hard to aim for new users.

Double Revolvers
***
They are like double shotguns accept good at far and close range. Again, aiming can be troublesome, however the damage is very high.

Double Rockets
**
You run out of ammo extremely quick and possibly damage yourself in the process. And if you do use them, you take off most of your clothes, making you have bad def and easily killed. I don't suggest using these for beginners.

Double Renards
**
Having two spray weapons will slow down your movements and combos/ moves you do. However, they are efficient at far and close range

Shotgun/Rev
*****
This is probably the most common of dagger users. Great at far and close range with high accuracy and allows you to equip all your armor, allowing you to have great defense. Rapid shooting with them with get your opponent down to red easy.

Shotgun/Rockets
***
This is very neat for JSD or JSSD. It is also very useful for fade shooting and is just like Shotgun/Rev. Just be sure to aim carefully with rockets.

Cysote uses double shotties, although he went shottie-revs for a while.

I use shottie-rocket, although I went AR-rocket for a long time just as effectively.

bad guide, using different layouts and colours. Sometimes hard to read and confusable.

I am a d styler myself, and thank you for this guide, what Mauser said about it being hard to read was absolutelly right, in the HARDER MOVES section, all the names are yellow, you should hcange this to at least a darker yellow, it blends in too wellw tih the white background aNd i had to highlight every name.

But the content you had in there was good, thank you for posting this.

Also, i would recomend that even if you enjoy using daggers and hate k stylers, that you learn k style anyway, this gives you insight into what your opponents (supposing they're k stylers, which should mean Katana/Kodachi stylers, nto Korean Stylers, because Koreans dont fly around like that in real life =) ) just as the ex pro d stylers who turned k style own almost all d stylers, because they used to be d stylers themselves, so they know what to expect, and what to watch out for, and exactly when your defences are down. I know exactly how to dodge even some of the best ss's with my dagger, and how to evade massives, i watch the pings to set the enemy up for a massive, then as they execute it, i stun or stab em, or simply blast them 30+ times with my assault rifle.

Well, this was originally posted on www.ijjiplay.com, i just transfered it.

umm.. it has kind of a nooby type of format.

I call it the Push Push Noob because you get called noob for doing it. What you are basically doing is spamming your push button. Right after you shove the person to the ground, you shove him to the ground again and again and again right before he gets up. After he dies, he calls you a noob. Don't do this if you can avoid it.

you call it the push push noob? o.O
and after he dies, he calls you a noob? not always...

Merry-Go-Round

This can be translated to simply running around and around your opponent in circles until they die. Of course, adding stabs with it.

its not really running around your opponent in circles, its turning ur mouse in a tight arc to turn around quickly, its a bit TOO simple-explained o.O

another thing, for some moves you show what exactly to do, like dash>jump>switch, but for others you dont, and you should, no matter how easy.

Wall Canceling-Jump at wall>Dash>Stab>Jump at wall>Dash>Stab. Be sure to dash and stab like .1 seconds after you Jumped at the wall.
never say like in any guide, makes you sound like a 5-year old.

finally, this isnt critisism, its CONSTRUCTIVE critisism (lol?), like simon on american idol. i still have no idea WHY they boo him, when hes telling the guys what to do to be better >_>... if i did hate it, i would have -repped you :P

And btw, I don't really need to add more explanations. I mean my cousin is 7 years old and he understood it just fine..

I dont like the Weapon Combo part. Weapon combonations with daggers varies with the user like you put double shotgun as the best and double uzis as worst. Some people are better with uzis than shotguns. Like I suck with shotguns but I have sharpshooter aim wtih pistols which dont make sense because the spread of a shotgun is more than a pistol. So im just saying to just take out the weapon option part.

Umm Pond sry to tell you, but there are alot of better dstyle guides out there, and reading this makes me think that you think that Dstyle is to learn how to play, to eventually advance into Kstyle, while it are more like 2 equal styles

oh and why'd you make up names for the moves xD

Btw. A good way to fight against turtle guys, is to block tap em ( stab him .. like on his left ear when he's blocking, (insert link of blocktap guide here, lolz cant find it xD) he tries to stun you, you fire EVERYTHING you can in the 2/3 seconds and he's gone xD * Yay ProDstylekill*

I use fadeshot all the time. But I use a slight variation.

I personally like Taps because they allow for more time to aim in air.

So this is my Fade shot:

dash > jump > switch > tumble opposite direction of dash > shoot > switch to dag > dash away

It's easy and kind of like a variation of dagger flash.

dude i must say ur totally wrong at some things:
1: we LOVE turtlers ( block tap and they are dead)
2: its HARD to learn and way more confusing then K-style

just to let you know that, but nice stuff for the rest :P
