View Full Version : XP on x-10 Stages: Bad Idea.

Okay, okay... So it IS a good thing in itself. But is it helpful overall? My answer is no.

If x-10 has the best EXP, then that is where everyone will WANT to be... But when everyone GETS there, then the people who are left behind TRYING to get there are... well, left behind! And when people are not given incentive to help other people get there, it causes a breakdown in the community.

Here are some suggestions I came up with to fix the problem:

FIRST: You have to take the "severe" amount of EXP gained on x-10, and spread it throughout the episode. In the end, finishing an episode, Stage 1 to Stage 10, would give the same EXP as you get for x-10 now, PLUS an extra amount for x-10 (which is not severe). Probably, 10% more sounds good. I will refer to this as "Normal EXP"

Make all Stages give 5x their normal EXP, ONCE. (a "Primary Award") For x-10 stages, the amount they give would probably only be 2x that much. After that, the Normal EXP amount applies.

NEXT, when you complete a stage you have already done, with someone who has NOT already done it, you get EXP equal to half of the Primary amount (totaling 2.5x Normal EXP)

Now, for parties: If you complete a stage you have already done, with party members who have also already done the stage, then your EXP award will be (normal Award + (33% of (HALF of the normal award))).

An example... We'll use History Lir.

When you finish it for the first time, you would get (for purpose of example) 750,000 EXP.
Each time after that, you would get 150,000.

When you do it with anyone who has not finished it before, you instead get 375,000 EXP.
If everyone has finished it, you get your 150,000 + another 25,000 for each person.

PLEASE NOTE: Numbers and percents WILL have to be tweaked: As they are now, people would reach Level 75 in 6 months, which is also a bad thing.

Why I think this would work... Well... It gives incentive to help people through stages... It allows people to gain more than relatively no EXP on the stages other than x-10, and the best part is, people will WANT to help others move ahead to get that extra EXP.

Please tell me what you think.

this wouldnt work lunia isnt a grind game
getting left behind isnt a bad thing it makes them have to find a party and try to solo it gaining some skills...
we dont want people dependant on a healer or dacy just to beat a stage =.=
and if you want more exp just go get the exp card from the cashshop

I don't really agree with you. It is not that hard to pass stages and I enjoy playing a game that isn't completely based on grind. If I wanted a neverending grind I would go play Maplestory.

level 75 in 6 months? that's not bad >_> and mostly in 6 months people would have quit or taken a break by then

Incentive to help?

Genocide quests.

I think what the developers wanted with the enormous x-10 exp was to get people leveled up quickly, so they wouldn't be disadvantaged at PvP. Tias at the lower level range (1-25) have a bigger advantage on other classes compared to other level ranges. Sieg doesn't reach his full potential until he gets Whirlwind Wave.

Even without that huge amount of exp, most people would move on from stages anyways. I remember in early OB when I couldn't find a party for 1-10L or 2-5L, because those stages were considered "hard", and no one wanted to go through them again. When I do go back to help people in stages, it's because there are no parties for a certain stage I want. So I go to that party, and help them out with their stage, and they'll probably advance to mine. Or maybe it's a certain equip I want.

That 5x multiplier on the first stage completion doesn't seem to help much with the problem. Wouldn't it be better to rush through them all anyways? If the exp was spread out through all the stages, I might go and farm 2-3, if I was on episode 2, because that stage is extremely short.

PLEASE NOTE: Numbers and percents WILL have to be tweaked: As they are now, people would reach Level 75 in 6 months, which is also a bad thing.

I'm betting people could reach that level much more quickly. Some guy's already level 70.

I see a Spartacous follower here....! No offense to Sparta, we're cool, but seriously, I myself hasn't made it to 5-10L yet and it's hard to find a party to get there, but I don't see this "made-up" problem of yours. Like Xpec said, the incentive are the genocide quests that can't be found in x-10 stages. <_<

And not to mention, x-1 to x-9 stages are not all so fun.... x-10 stages are done coz, well, they are challenging. If you're left dwindling behind in stages, that doesn't mean there's a problem.

Too bad this idea doesn't do anything about how naturally unrewarding some stages are in terms of how much effort and time they take.

The X-10 exp bonus is supposed to support the new title quests and the new level cap (75 from 65). I don't think this needs to be significantly changed.

On the note of stages: Almost all of the History stages are reasonable to solo (except x-10's). If you're having trouble with stages, join a guild. A good guild will help each other to advance in stages and you can be sure to have lots of skilled and knowledgeable players. However, if you do join a guild, expect to be helping other members level too.

If you don't want to join a guild: TRY MAKING FRIENDS.

Alternatives? Don't play stages, just PvP if you can't manage to form positive interactions with other players.
