How to fix the download error

Dear users,

Below is technical stuff that you may or may not want to read.

I have pin-pointed the problem with the Avatar_data.xfs issue. You see, if you are recieving this error, this means you MUST UNINSTALL, DELETE THE GBNA FOLDER, DOWNLOAD A FRESH COPY, AND THEN REINSTALL THE CLIENT in order to play GunBound Revolution again. You will only get this avatar_data.xfs error IF you have not played in a while. You would only get this error if your client is currently v642 or lower. As most of you have reported, it's the second last one that fails the download (or in a new case, now the 5th one AND 2nd one)

If we take a look at the fetch code for GBNA, we will see this (and we're pretending that our "client" is version 642):

Now, say your client is v642, it's trying to download 'avatar_data.xfs' for v643. Everything goes smoothly, and it then copies it into the 'fetch' folder, awaiting to merge with the 'avatar.xfs' file in the root directory as soon as the autopatcher finishes downloading ALL patches. Now the autopatcher attempts to download avatar_data.xfs (v644) and save it to the 'fetch' folder.. wait a minute.. there's already an avatar_data.xfs file there! What should we do? Overwrite? Nope! I still need that file! *Asplodes* "Cannot download file: avatar_data.xfs". The error isn't that it can't find it, the error is that it can't overwrite the one that's already there! The client needs both of them to patch! You see, if your client was already v643, everything would be O.K., due to it only needs to download the v644 one. Nothing would be overwritten then.

Repeat this story with language.xfs. It's the same thing.


Above is technical stuff that you may or may not want to read.

Instructions on how to fix this bug:

1. Uninstall GBNA, and delete the appropriate folder from the IJJI folder (Assuming you play other ijji games).
2. Download the latest installer by logging onto ijji, and clicking "Play Live".
3. Enjoy


Notice to ijji:
Please use this as a future reference. To avoid the client from dying by such an error, name your XFS files with a datestamp, such as:
"avatar_data03302007.xfs"
This will eliminate this entire issue with this bug, since each .xfs file that the client downloads will have a unique name to it.

This actually worked for me. It took a few tries though.
BUT NOW. After that 3 hour maintenance, for some reason, nothing works anymore.
There are more things to download now as well...it used to be out of 12, but now there are 21 things.
The furthest I can go is 13/21.

okay this i what genrally happens and the gms should pay attention. The patches download new avatar and language .xfs wth the same nameso the next one wont download. So what you need to do is get them and rename them and put them in another folder. what happens is that when the error appears you need to start it again after you move the renamed one. then quickly delete them when they show up so the other ones will get there without making an error. rename these ones also. do it again ecept download the first group and second group of them and rename the third. keep doing this till the patch is over. you ahve to act quickly or this wont work. GMS THIS IS MAINLY YOUR FAULT. YOU NEED THIS TO MAKE THIS PATCH HAVE DIFFERENT NAMES DUE T ATLEAST VERSIONS OR DATES. INFACT YOU SHOULD EVEN LET US DOWNLOAD THE PATCHES SPERATELY <.<. Also those who actually have the nromal version could you please find someway to send people your fetch folder. it will all help if you could.

Yeah, I've probably gone down a few hundred ranks since I havent been able to get on for about 2 months now.. I kind of lost track since the day I gave up on gunbound because I wasn't able to get into the game. Anyways, don't rush or strain yourselves in fixing a serious problem that affects many of your users, ijji/GMs. All you get is a bad reputation for poor service, but you're probably already used to that by now. It's just kind of sad that you either have no clue how to fix a simple problem like this, or that you don't have the will power to actually pay attention and TRY to fix it. I'll be waiting for the day I can play again, but until then i'll just have to use my imagination and look at the screenshots of the gaming sensation :p .. Yay.. 2D images are so fun to look at..:lust:

Ok, this is the last time im gona post this.

You may not have the correct version of ActiveX. In order to fix the ActiveX and any other updating issues, please follow these steps to remove the older version of the ijji game launcher, and update to the latest version.

Open a window for My Computer.
Click on the (C: ) drive to open it.
Open the "ijji" folder, then open the "ENGLISH" folder.
In the ENGLISH folder you will see "ijjiGamePluginRemoveTool". Click on that to remove the launcher.
If you do not see the "ijjiGamePluginRemoveTool" please click here to download it.
Once you have successfully removed the older installation:

1. Visit http://www.ijji.com

2. Login, and install the ijji game launcher again by clicking the Play Live Button.

3. The ijji game launcher will update your game to the latest version.

4. You should be able to play ijji.com games with no issues.

I have the latest full version downloaded from ijji, AND I also did the ijjigamelauncherremovaltool procedure, but it STILL has the .xfs bugs. it would help if there was a script that automatically overwrote older-downloaded xfs files, that way it would just keep and install the latest, and not get stuck trying to download something it's already got with the same name. even though i have both the latest launcher and latest full install package, i still have to download 36 updates. The problem is still very real.

Because most of the problems are USER RELATED ... meaning it's on your end. You have a firewall, virus, lacking requirements to play the game. I've never had a problem installing the game on a "normal" pc. when I tried on my sisters vista pc, it had a problem instantly. IS that ijji's fault? no. and gunbound works now on my sisters computer.

dunno what patch ur talking about, but I'm sure you can figure it out eventually, hate threads solve NOTHING!

maybe you need to uninstall everything, including removal of the folder if something were to get corrupt, it would stay corrupt, so you have to remove it. depending what programs are on your computer, it could effect gunbound in SO MANY WAYS, everyone always just assumes it's their fault.

I'm on Shaw Internet myself, and I have no problems whatsoever. I just know how the patching system works.

That won't work unless you feel like uploading the entire client. Just re-install the game.
