if your runnig and network apps, ro download apps, put a cap on your downlaod rate, or just close all the download and network applets before playing gunz. If you have crapy internet connection, you should get a better one, The world today needs fast connection.

If you have alot of popups poping up in Internet explore and its not visable or at a URL you need to either do system restore, Find the virus, or reinstall windows all together, trust things like that can be extreamly effective.

Anit-viruses can lagg your connection or computer. Also if you get really desprite open task manager and close "IEXPLORE.exe", make sure its that and not "explorer.exe". Or w\e browser your using close its process, and you have most liklyalready heard this but, check your firewall settings.

KK 1 i'm guessing you use limewhire to lsisten to ure music? Move all your songs to a folder and play them on Media players, or soemthing else..

Also, any 1 lags in a 16 player room, but when they have like 500++ they're probly not NA so it's normal. If you lag in a duel..or soemthing else, it's ether your connection or location.

DOn't put on limewire while you play games you moron. That's why you lag. Limewire is a network AND cpu hog to all computers. Even if you have a gaming rig PC, and it doesn't take up much CPU %. It still slows down the PC. Also limewire is the worst thing to use to download music. Use torrents.

I don't know if this has been mentioned because i'm too lazy to read the entire thread, but i think you can get rid of popups by getting limewire pro, just search for it on limewire and you shout be able to download one.

1. close out all unneeded applications (xfire, limewire, files, chat windows, ect)

2. limewire does not suck, its not that bad if u kno how to use it, btw i use microtorret (utorrent) too, they'r both good

3. maximize preformence by putting your resolution on the lowest possible setting (640x480 16) and put settings on low, your texture will not affect speed THAT much, so keep it on 32 bit


thats about it, also if u can, shut off anything else u might be using (ill b talking on the ps2 sometimes as im on gunz, so if i get laggy ill just have them get on gunz too and shut off ps2)

^ps2.exe is not a game console. You can find it in your list of active processes.

Set priority of every process (that you can) to low and close all unnecessary applications.
Virus scan, spyware scan, adware scan, then defrag computer. Free up as much space as you can (back-up, external hard-drive, etc.) and then if it fails, oh well :[

exactly, Limewire takes up over 20,000 K mem usage (its a comp thing, doesnt mean 20,000 thousand)

Winamp ftw, but I just bought an iLive stereo thing for my ipod and a new speaker system. So, I just set 2 speakers under my pillows and the rest on the ceiling in the corners. So don't have to play music through comp now Lol xD

To turn off your firewall would be a dangerous idea,. alowing more viruses and "hackers" in to your computer, its there for a reason it should stay in the condition it is. Turning off your firewall can disallow application from connecting to the internet completely in some cases. The best thing to do is just modify the settings. Windows 98 has no disadvantage to connecting to the internet. All though if you do have 98, you need an upgrade.

P.S 98 would be better then vista at this stage(My opinion)

Limewire... So unreliable.

Using this can also trigger a false hacking alarm, as when I forgot to turn it off, the GunZ prog recognized Limewire as a hack (possibly lag) and subsequently kicked me off the servers.
