GunZ CW Tournament

Yes, i've been contemplating this for a while now, trying to sort out what resources I have and what could go wrong etc...

I got word from my boss that this tournament WILL happen.
Planned Schedule
Oct. 1, 2007 - Qualifier begins
Oct. 11, 2007 - Final Qualifier Day
Oct. 12, 2007 - Top 16 Tournament Schedule posted
Oct. 13, 2007 - Bracket begins.
Oct. 14, 2007 - Final 4?

Replays of each match will be posted live after each match with score. I would rather have users monitor tournament from forum than in-game where spam is obvious and flooding of channels that would cause proper players issues with getting into their location.

So I need some input since everyone obviously CWs more than I.

Here are some thoughts on my process for this tourney. Keep in mind that this will be kept small as a trial run. Also keep in mind on our resources. The less I have to request support from Maiet, the faster and more efficient the tourney can be run.
At the begining of the month, clans will CW as much as possible until a certain date to qualify. At the end of that date, the top 16 clans will be put into a double elimination bracket. At the end of the qualifier date, the top 16 teams must register the 4 members entering the bracket.

Rules will change however once entered into the bracket portion of the tournament. During the bracket tournament, the games will be held in a TDM match monitored by a GM.

The way the bracket portion of the tournament will be conducted

- Top 16 clans check schedule on who you are facing and when and where it will be held.
- Meet opposing clan in private room created by the GM.
- 4 vs 4
- Clan with higher points from qualifier gets to choose map
- Clan with lower points from qualifier chooses side.
- Once match starts, first to win 3 rounds wins first match.
- Return to Game Room and switch sides.
- This will be a 2/3 match game.
- In the case that a 3rd match is played, team with most "round" wins will choose side. In the case that the rounds are tied, clan with higher points from qualifier will choose side.
- Winning your 2/3 match game is considered a "set".
- You are only allowed to lose 1 set.
- Losing your 1st set will enter you into the loser's bracket for second chance.
- Winner of the loser's bracket will face the winner of the winner's bracket for the final.
- Final is 3/5 for 1 set.
- The winner of the loser's bracket must win 2 sets in the final.
- Winner of the winner's bracket only needs to win 1 set in the final.

In-Game Restrictions for the Bracket Portion

- Restrict to level 35+
- No prem meds or repair items. Bounty Meds are ok.
- No Hiding. Example, round comes down to 1v1, one user decides to "hide" for a long period of time, the GM may opt to kick the user due to delay of game (If the user fails to comply after warning). Opposing team receives a win and all users must return to Game Room to resume play. Score will resume as well. Basically, just search and kill, dont lollygag around.
- If a member gets disconnected during the 1st round before any kills are made, game will restart. In the event that this happens twice, game must continue without disconnected member and that member must attempt to rejoin for the next round.

There are obviously other small rules and restrictions that need to be sorted out like if there's a draw round etc... those things can be sorted out as we go along. Any other kinks you can think of, please post.

Prizes (subject to change)

1st Place - Unlimited Set of your choice (any released set, this includes LOK) for the 4 participating members. 50 G Coin. Custom Title and Avatar in forum. Featured clan of the month. 30 Day set for all other members in the clan who did not play in the bracket. ("other" members must be members of the clan prior to the start of the qualifier period)

2nd Place - 180 Day set of your choice for the 4 participating members. 25 G Coin. 15 Day set for all other members in the clan who did not play in the bracket. ("other" members must be members of the clan prior to the start of the qualifier period)

3rd Place - 90 Day set of your choice for the 4 participating members. 10 G Coin. 7 Day set for all other members in the clan who did not play in the bracket. ("other" members must be members of the clan prior to the start of the qualifier period)

I reckon the tournament idea is awesome...thing is though that the top 100 clans are without a doubt full prem kstylers and the top 20s are all lvl 50s with even more prems like gunknight... except for mountains of course...( i cwed u guys once and i actually won!! >.<!!) ...newayz the unlimited idea is also really awesome ( everyones obviously gonna get gunknight ==") but perhaps making two divisions (one for pros and one for not so pros...) would make it a little more fun..with less stuff to the not so pros obviously...wat dya think?

I Really Think That Their Should be Some Type Of "Limit" as to were These games are held from Maybe A lot of work But My Suggestion is that Maybe to Separate the 16 clans (If Possible) Into Geographic locations Ex... In Usa/Can TDM ever time it says "hit" I Hit ... Eu other hand 90+ ping I Hit And Nothing Lead Is Just a hassle With Eu... I think There should be some limitations on that...

I think what ShadowRodent and Codomulus is trying to say, it would be better if their was a 35+ bracket, and a 35- bracket for those clans that arent full of lvl 50 prem kstylers.

But back to topic, Its not gonna be nearly as hard to beat the top clans because prem meds are not allowed.

No 'newb bracket' because the idea of the tournament is for top clans to battle it out to see who is the best... Sparta and Magicians IMO won't reach top 3 with Dolphin, snickers and maybe even basic(?) taking part. Anyway it will be fun.

Also I think the 4 clans in top 16 with highest % should be seeded.

I think it would be a good idea for a 35+ bracket and a 35- bracket, because it would be fair for everyone. I mean, it's hard enough for non prem lvl 30's to go into CW and demolish Magicians or Sparta. So i'm supporting the 2 bracket idea.

here are a few things you should think about

1.ping and spiking because i know some top clans like abyss and their portugese internets spike from about 80-130 to me and that makes leading alot harder and basically impossible

2.Not everyone lives in the same time zone so they might not be on at the same time as everyone else

3.im gonna post about ping again because leadshotting while fighting in a 4v4 is hard as heck

and this is just a random idea im putting out

4.should gunz rank players in their state like gunbound? because i would like to know what im ranked against people in my own state

I'm infamous as Clytie/Confuzz, and half the clans in the top 100 hate my guts.
Shall be awesome to beat them due to their lack of prem meds.

Firstly I'd like to say the tournament looks awesome and I like rules such as no hiding for long periods of time (shows you know the game), no prem meds (shows up everybody who says you only care about revenue).

I'd just like to make a suggestion about the prizes - as only 4 players will be coming first, I think they should receive a really unique prize; in Korean GunZ, when an event is won by a player or team they receive what I know only as "jjang". Basically it is a blue star above their head in game with the text "event winner" or something in korean, which would be really cool for the winners :please:

Unlimited prem meds instead of unlimited premium set would be a nice option too - it's only for 4 people! :lolz:

Anyway, thanks for organizing this tournament, I think it will be good for gunz :clap:
