View Full Version : Player cars shouldn't be solid

(Since there's no general topic to post in, I'll stick this here)
Why do player cars need to be solid objects in the city? When I'm trying to hurry to chase a HUV, or one of the timed missions, why do I need some mentally challenged 12 year old ramming into me? Or even just in general crusing around it's annoying to ram into someone else on a mission. At NO point during city driving is it ever necessary to hit someone else, so why can't we just make it so player cars aren't solid, like when you go into a base. It won't hurt anyone, noone loses anything by this and it'll just help people in the long run. But maybe increase traffic or something if ijji insists on annoying people by having more stuff to crash into

1. For general topic, just go to Drift city, and create new thread. =]
2. I like having it solid, makes it a bit more challenging to avoid cars. =]

Ooh, all that mess at the bottom is the general thread? I just thought that was where the forum showed all the newest posts and ignored it. And I won't argue with ya there, it is more of a challenge to avoid cars that way. So why not just add in more traffic? NPC traffic won't purposefully ram you into a wall, drive backwards and forwards just to cause trouble or stop infront of you so you lose a mission.

You shouldn't be able to go right through them ALL the time, but it'd be nice if when you were doing a mission or HUV Chase or something you could just go through them.

I agree with you, I was doing a mission and outta no where 2 guys on the truck mission (where you get to drive tanker) started ramming me and trapped me, it pissed me off. I agree with you but when you're playing battle mode then they can be solid. As for NPC cars they are okay, smarter than most kids out there :lolz:

i say only time missions if at all. But not in city 4 because by then you should be pro and if you aren't you should get your account reset.

even if they make a unsolid like NPC cars are still solid which means, find 6 trucks(easy) crash into them ,and form a net like thing= owned

They are already doing you a favor by not making it so that when another player hits you, it counts as a crash. Frankly, this game is a racing game, and I think any aspect should allow others to crash into you.
I'm not going to vote on that poll either.

I'm in the middle.
1.) I agree with Szayn. It's a racing game, so they should be solid.
2.)On the other hand, people with huge lag could suddenly appear in front of you and slow you down, or even worse, hit you over and over again!

i H8 noobs that stay to the oncoming side and drive really slow, or try to ram you.

Those noobs are probably doing a trailing mission, your supposed to drive on the right side..
left is for points, points are no0Oo0O0b. If everyone drove on the right side, it wouldn't be soo bad.
The HUVs drive on the right side....

LOL I DO that is fun. But I respect ppl who are on timed missions, crash missions and DO NOT do that. ( no crash on HUV missions either ) :D :=p: cuz once I was on the Mittron Fuel Mission and some nubie crashed into me from the back in the curvy road and rammed me to a wall. and boosted and kept ramming me to walls until my car exploded to tiny bits.

People post and say that it should be solid but few people have said that it shouldnt be solid.
Am I missing something here, I smell a mutli acccounter ( someone who makes accounts just to vote )
Anyways, really it should be solid, everyone got bumped, get over it, your just giving them more work to do.
Plus if it wasnt solid wtf is the point of seeing them, just to lag you? no. If they werent solid, and they were just their, i would rather not to see them at all to save myself from lag, makes sense?
Leave it solid, everyone gets bumped, just switch channels or learn how to drive and take a different route.
If you guys want to complain, complain about things that are actually an issue; lag, spam, lack of cars, glitchs, etc.

if you're in ch 1-4 (or other crowded channels), you have no right to complain about bumping during missions and HUV chases.
I think it only makes sense that the players are solid, just thank the programmers for not reducing your speed when you crash into other players like they did for npc cars.
anyway, they alrdy made players "unsolid" in places like the dome where it can get really crowded. I honestly don't see why you would want "unsolid" player cars anywhere else.
Also, i'm pretty sure the crowdedness will be better once another server comes out. The main reason you feel that way is because right now, the game has 2000+ players in 8 channels. That's like 250 people per channel and then 62 people per city. You do the rest.

there are been several times when i rammed into another player (by accident of course ;) ) and it COMPLETELY slowed my car down to 60 mph ;) probably cuz we crashed head on :xd:

Okay, so lets keep cars solid whatever. And the next time you get slowed down by 3 noobs parked in a line just to block a street, don't complain. Some jackhole wants to ram your truck into the wall so it explodes, thank a gm for that. Yeah, this is a racing game but what does that have to do with the subject tards? Who's racing on the city streets while you're doing missions?

GET. OVER. IT.
We all had the experience.
Dude, how hard is it just to take a different route, or switch channels, ive had people do it to me guaranteed more then you, you dont see me betching. People get bored they try and have fun you cant stop people from having fun, its a racing game, bumping is a strategy of racing.
What is the point of seeing them if their not solid? just to lag you? No, sorry im not a fan of that. If they are not solid then i would rather NOT see them, and that takes out the whole special MMO part of drift city. Drift city wont be drift city anymore.
If they bump you while you do missions that means their bored, so you switch channels, or just take a different route. Simple.
You are giving the makers of the game more crep to do instead of the important stuff; glitches, lag, lack of paintjob ( no black =X ), non compatible with steering wheel etc.

Actually, majority are in channels 1 and 2. So maybe like 600 for channel 1, 450 for channel 2 etc.

or in timed missions have you press a button that makes you not solid. But you only get it a couple times a mission. Or that could be a upgrade

A fix to this would be that if you bumb into someone, you don't effect their car, but it slows you down.

I would rather keep them solid. The game is called Drift CITY for a reason. It wouldn't be like a city if you didn't have idiot drivers in it.....
Those noobs are probably doing a trailing mission, your supposed to drive on the right side..
left is for points, points are no0Oo0O0b. If everyone drove on the right side, it wouldn't be soo bad.
The HUVs drive on the right side....
During trailing missions and HUV missions, they drive all over the road for me...
Yeah, this is a racing game but what does that have to do with the subject tards? Who's racing on the city streets while you're doing missions?
Actually, the crew I'm in and another crew had a makeshift 4v4 race down the main street of cras once for a lvl 27 or 29 part. Just sorta had a party going and they had a party and we just ran into each other in front of station1, and agreed to a race all of a sudden.
Also, people doing combos and trying to get lots of wreckless driving, or people doing patrol missions are usually racing on the streets, as well as anyone practicing a bz track on their own without going into the bz.....

Actually, the npc cars do drive backwards to stop me, and they appear out of no where infront of me while I drive, which causes me to lose missions.
To me, its better to have solid cars, that way you get jump combo. (when they ram you in the front your car jumps...well mine does..).

ya know whats fun if you don't see anyone bumping into you or you bumping into others...? come on on the real road you don't expect to see yourself driving head-on into another right? since you don't do it on the roads, do it in DC then

Since the popular agreement seems to be it's okay to bump, I tried an experement. I went to the first city and spent about 2 hours just crashing into people doing HUV chases, ramming the tankers into walls and things like that and not one of them said lol or anything. None of the people I hit thought it was fun at all, I don't get it.
Anyway, I'm thinking about starting a new crew. Probably call it Wallz or something, and all we're gonna do is block streets. Might even form a barrier around the stations so people can't get in. And cause I know cars can be pushed, we'll make the walls 2-3 cars deep as well so yall can't get around us. But hey, bumping is part of the game right? So no complaints! sure, this sounds boring but I've got a ps3, so while I'm busy blocking a street I can play video games!

No problem, I enjoy pushing people who are blocking roads off to the side, bit of a break from the patrol runs, and no matter how many cars there are, if you bump em in reverse, you wont lose speed and they will move. Alot of times i just drive into a traffic jam of NPC cars in reverse just for fun, blow them all out of the way.

Player's Hub must be solid too , yay!
I've actually played a racing game where you could get up to 15 others playing on the same map with no collisions. It was.. kinda boring, actually. I mean, I can see the allure of not wanting to be rammed (Dear god I hate rammers), but doing sweet drifts in team races with your crew and not hitting each other takes skill, and looks good. It's something I wouldn't want to throw away. If I wanted to race against the clock, I'd go play a GT4 time trial on my PS2.
