Either because you have a really bad internet connection, the server isn't stable, your computer might have too much info stored in it, you have too much programs running, you're computer got infested with a hack/glitch, your system specs are horrible, you're playing on something other than Windows XP^, etc, or that you live in another country. I know people who live in NY and they don't lag.
