I'm not a fan of MMORPGS, since most of them require no skill to play. but I congratulate ijji to finally get an MMORPG game to our RPG fans here. Well done ijji!

Drift City is quite MMORPG, kind of..
Anyways, congrats to ijji and all players to make all this possible, and thanks to "TheGreatLeon" for the thread. ;]

Actually, if you want to be a really good player in this game, it requires skills. Because most of us don't even know the main details yet, that's why it seems just another MMORPG. Pfft, it IS just another MMORPG, but it's a bit different than the others.

Heh, I'm also waiting for another game on another site, which comes in like 2 days.
But the other game seems better than this, I'll have to check it out.

Really though, It's not the first. I'm pretty sure that the leveling and item aquiring in Drift City is RPG. It's just that it's the most irregular RPG out there.

yeah, wow requires timing, and knowing where to hide and go, and know when to retreat and you got to look behind you always. you got to time the skills and know which combination to use first, and who to hit when theres 2 or 3 versus you. since you have full manueverability and control of your character, you can micro him completely, it's requires both skill and gears. like how a rogue have to try to run behind a opponoent to backstab but it depends on how well the player does that and it depends on how well the other player tries to not face his back on him, and of course it's the gears that reduces and does damage. i really like that game but i quit 'cuz of the bc expansion.

It's like any good RPG. Elder scrolls IV : Oblivion for example.

The skill this game requries is mental.
RPG's like this require a good build.
-stats (speed over power?)
-skills (strong in one field or deceant in more than one?)
-leveling (fast, hard, expensive, leveling or slow, easy, cheap leveling?)
Games like this aren't for everyone though.
Hopefully GoonZu will attract an older more mature and hopefully adult crowd of true gamers.
Ugly games keep dumb, ignoant kids away.

But not old politician's...we don't need crooked people from D.C. in this game o.O

drift city is more rpg than goonzu...goonzu is more like a crafting and tax paying game with some politics...so yeah goonzu is for those who cant get enough of the bad sides of real life and wanna "enjoy" them in a virtual world as well.
seriously from all those mmorpgs out there why they had to get a 4 year old game that isnt really tailored for mmorpg players? guess the license was cheap due to the age...

I also hope this game will keep a lot of ignorant kids away. Since it can be quite complicated with the economics and politics features. And class is also important. There's no way someone can maintain a cane character in the beginning. I tried but I failed </3. It's WAY too expensive.

Yes canes and the skill books are VERY expensive. But cane gives SUPER damage. Which is why they're super expensive. There is no way someone can handle cane as a normal starter class. Either level REALLY slowly and collect a lot of money, or get money from someone else.

I'm thinking more about Risk Management Funds. =]

The main thing I'm hoping is that it manages to avoid the trap that so many MMOs fall into, having one "best" build that everyone and their mother uses, basically turning the game into a big clone war and anyone who decides not to use that "best" build is denigrated by the population, and severely punished by the game mechanics itself. When games, especially RPGs and even more so MMORPGs eliminate choices from being viable by failing to balance game mechanics, the game almost always ends up being crap, plain and simple.
Well, it's a tough trap to avoid though, so I'll just need to wait and see.

I think it'll do pretty well.
