It's not going to be anywhere near the next big MMO. 1: Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, etc are multi million dollar MMOs coming out soo, they will be the next big ones. 2: Luminary has already existed for a long time under the name Goonzu. I'm gunna say about 50,000 play this game on ijji and with about 1-3k regularily.

Ijji vs. Aion, Warhammer, WoW Frozen Throne, Age of Conon, Project Wiki(Might be popular, I dunno)
Yeah its probably got the toughest opponents yet. If it tried (Which its not) it would fail.

With the release of SUN North America coming out soon, Luminary will face some hard competition.

But Luminary is unique! Your character can get sick and there's probably other suprises.

It can't come close to contending with the graphic powerhouse MMO's that are released and are continuously being released. Sure you can make a town here. But you can make a much LARGER town that looks a ton NICER in Age of Conan :p.
NoobyPwner

Still this game allows someone to run your town. I wonder how that works. I still think Luminary is gonna pwn.

Towns in Age of Conan will be guild run. Players running towns isnt a new concept. Archlord already has it ingame where the guild incontrol can set tax rates etc. The mass of the MMO audience is looking for something that can bring them that insanely good graphics and that innovative new feel to the common MMO market. :S Luminary just tends to fail on the graphics side of that.

Luminary is good because it's FREE to download and play! Besides if I played Age of Conan this computer would explode! At least Luminary stands out from OTHER FREE MMOs I mean it'll just PWN games like Maple Story and Rune scape!

Archlord - Free to play
Silkroad Online - Free to play
Knight Online - Free to play
9Dragons - Free to Play
Theres an endless list of free to play MMOs that are well >.> more pleasing to most gamers than Luminary will be.

Iron;712786'] The mass of the MMO audience is looking for something that can bring them that insanely good graphics and that innovative new feel to the common MMO market.
I have to disagree about the graphics bit, gameplay, content, and balance are what really matter, Age of Conan should be big not because of it's graphics but because of a revolutionary combat system and innovative concepts, Dark Age of Camelot was big because of the revolutionary concept of RvR and it's finely tuned balance of classes, and races, and Warhammer online will bring both questing and RvR to the next level by improving and continuing what has proven to be excellent (RvR) and improving one of the more lackluster aspects of most MMOs (quests) with things like Public Quests, and kill collectors that don't need to be activated(NO MORE BEAR PAWS!). Ultima Online was big because not only was it the first truly massive MMO, but it's style of gameplay was one where you truly could do anything and it had the power of the Ultima brand name as well even though it was based on the Ultima VI engine which was a 2d isometric engine in a time where everyone was obsessed with 3d. None of those games really garnered mass attention because of their graphics, but because of their gameplay. WoW, well, really it got big because of name recognition, Warcraft and the Blizzard name with massive hype. Personally I found it lacking compared to all the other MMOs I've played.

And you can disagree Market research analysis proves otherwise however, its why even free MMO's are starting to have better and better graphics and why there are less and less of these around. I didnt much like WoW either it seemed it was a bunch of previous MMO's pieced together.
And you ought to notice that i made sure to say good graphics and bring innovative things to the common MMO.

Yes I noticed the innovative things bit you mentioned, that's why I only mentioned I personally disagree with the "graphics must be insanely good" bit. Of course the graphics will need to improve some to succeed, when its a retail game, even UO got an expansion to add 3d graphics, although I personally still preferred the 2d. But I'm sure you've noticed that, graphically, most MMOs lag behind a good bit compared to single player or small scale online games, I never expect Crysis level graphics, and frankly, wouldn't want, Crysis-like graphics in an MMO, especially if it came at the cost of any of the more, in my opinion, important points of the game, and since cutting edge graphics will always need to have tradeoffs it almost inevitably will.
Well, that's my view on it.

This game will be popular with all those old-school RPG gamers, who played games like this back in the days of the sega. 'Cept now you got it online.

I think it will be good... But not that good because WoW has been out for a few years and is still Number 1 to MILLIONS of people. And same goes with Lineage II that was a big big big hit!! Even i still play Lineage 2!! And I bin playing for 4 YEARS!! But I know that alot of us here will enjoy this game and we should all hang out together, Party PvP with each other etc... What do you say?

Dont forget World of Warcraft and Anarchy Online. They are really popular as well. Yeah, I doubt Luminary will be more popular than them, despite all it has to offer. NoobyPwner, It doesnt matter what is in the game, if people dont play it, it wont be popular. What is in the game may help increase popularity, but people have to actually play it for it to be popular.
One thing I am worried about is, there are only a certain amount of people that go on ijji.com, right? The more games there are on ijji.com, the less people playing each game. Especially when one game is really popular and another is not. Golf King was a really nice game. The best golf game I have played in awhile. It got deleted because after GunZ and Soldier Front came out, it had at most 150 people playing it at the same time. Soldier Front has on average around 3,000 people playing. KwonHo is slowly becomming less popular, as is Drift City and Gunbound. Royal Chess has never been popular. It probably wont survive the Luminary invasion. Right now there are only 18 people playing. Once Luminary comes out, there may very well be another game that is deleted, possibly KwonHo or Royal Chess. Im saying this because Luminary has a lot of potential to be really popular, which means the other game's population will go down the tubes. I doubt GunZ will be less popular though. It's popularity is even really huge despite the hackers. Imagion GunZ without hackers.
On the other hand, Luminary will have a very low population and not many people will play it. Possibly around 1,000. Judging from the condition of GoonZu, id say this is more likely.
How am I able to guess these numbers? I just analyze things a lot and in depth. My parents say I do it too much.

remember that goonzu in korea is the 5th or 6th more played game and wow or lineage are nothing compared to the hardcore farming asian games like maplestory, scions of fate or also gunbound(some years ago) surely goonzu is one of the most active korean games(in korea) but it's deeply different from what luminary will be. luminary and goonzu online are the 30-40% of korean goonzu
