Weapons
Concerning weapons in Gunz, you are allowed to equip 2 sets of long-range weapns (SMGs, Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, and Rocket Launchers), 1 short-range weapon (Daggers, Swords, and Dual Swords), and one set of grenades (Normal Grenades, Flashbangs, and Smoke Grenades).
SMGs
These guns are the best all around. They do great damage, however, they are not very accurate. They are best used when your target is not dodging left or right, but rather running in a straight line, and you are in front of them or behind them. They are also very useful when shooting at large crowds of people. If you decide not to use these in your arsenal, you should seriously consider if you are making the right choice. SMGs have relatively large clips and a short recoil.
Rifles
Good for long range, they are accurate yet not as powerful as SMGs in terms of total possible damage. Rifles usually have large clips and a short recoil.
Shotguns
Not necessarily the best close-range weapon. Shotguns and SMGs are probably tied for that title. Shotguns shoot a quick, powerful burst with a long recoil, with their damage decreasing the further away the target is from the shooter. Shotguns are useful when you want to jump out from behind a corner and shoot someone in the face really quickly, but SMGs definitely have better damage over time, even in close range. Shotguns are also useful when you and your opponent are dodging left and right, because with shotguns you can aim fairly well while doing this, using SMGs while this is happening would be an ineffecient investment if you could instead use shotguns. Shotguns also have a long recoil time, and a small clip.
Pistols
Pistols are accurate with high damage, but they run out of ammo quickly. Pistols are easily the weakest weapon set in Gunz. I do not suggest ever using them.
Rocket Launchers
Rocket Launchers shoot exploding projectiles which move relatively slow compared to bullets. They have weak area-of-effect damage, so unless you shoot your enemy head-on, the rocket launcher will not be very effective against him. They also have a long recoil time, with small rounds. Don't waste your bounty to buy one of these.
Swords
In Gunz, Swords, despite being a melee weapon, are considerably balanced. A player who wishes to go 'Swords only' while their opponent is using both short and long-ranged weapons is a player who would have a decent chance of victory, if he knows what he is doing. Swords can block incoming bullets from the front while their user presses the shift key. They can also block other sword and dagger strikes, and when they do, they charge up the blocker's sword, slightly stun the attacker, and negate the attacker's attack entirely. However, swords cannot block shots being fired at the back, side, or the front legs of the blocking character. Swords can charge up their attack by holding the fire button for about 3 seconds, enabling the swords to make one powerful swing, however, if the sword is not swung after a given amount of time after becoming charged, the sword will lose its imbued energy and return to its normal uncharged state. Swords can also make a stun-attack with the right mouse button. This attack, when landed, knocks the victim high into the air, and then the victim lies on the ground, unconscious, for about 3 seconds. This attack is easily countered if the victim presses spacebar while in midair, which negates the time spent on the ground entirely.
Daggers
Daggers have caused controversy in this game. Daggers deliver weak damage in comparison to their longer-bladed substitutes, however their effectiveness for stunning makes them a hated and contempted tool. Daggers are not able to block bullets like swords, however daggers are able to charge like swords, and are also able to stun like swords. However the dagger's stun is very dangerous, for both the attacker and the victim. When stunning, the dagger wielder lunges at his victim, and if he successfully stabs the victim, the victim becomes stunned on the ground for about 3 seconds while the dagger wielder is able to switch to his SMGs and make his victim taste lead. The dagger's stun is far more dangerous than the sword's stun, because the dagger does not knock the victim into the air, giving him ample time to hit the spacebar, instead, the victim drops straight to the ground, with minimal time available to counter. This is why daggers are best used for surprise attacks; if a dagger-wielder is coming at you, and you see him lunge, you have plenty of time to get ready to press the spacebar to counter the stun. The dagger's stun capabilites are only practical in a surprise situation or against inexperienced players who do not know how to recover from the stun.
For a weapon arsenal, I suggest as follows:
SMG x2 (100%)
Rifle (55%) OR Shotgun (45%)
Dagger (65%) OR Sword (35%)
Normal Grenades.
Daggers and swords also enable to the wielder to jump higher when running up walls, and allow the wielder to 'hang' onto the wall by presing right click while midair and up against a wall. High places can be reached using this system of holding down the forward button, hiting spacebar, holding down the right click button, and continuing to tap spacebar (but do not double tap spacebar, or you will bounce off of the wall) until the player has reached the maximum scalable height of that wall.
Acrobatic Tips
-You can run along walls if you run against them diagonally (may be different according to your screen resolution) and hit the spacebar. Tapping the spacebar again while on the wall will make your character jump off, although after a certain amount of time, or the lack of remaining wall width to run on, your character will jump off automatically.
-You can run up walls by adjusting yourself completely perpendicular and adjacent to the wall and tapping spacebar.
-Double tapping any of the movement 'WASD' keys will make your character dive, making him harder to hit and increasing his movement speed.
-Jumping against a wall then jumping again will make your character jump away from that wall in a direction depending on what angle you approached it at.
