Introduction

Shotgun is a secondary weapon that many people choose to equip because of its insane damages at close range and shooting while reloading clips.

However, many people treat the shotgun like a secondary weapon. There are some who use shotgun as their primary weapon. So to those who don't know the true power and effects of using a shotgun, this guide was made just for you.

Since this guide was made in CB, here are the two types of shotguns:

Remington M870
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f6/Starkid101/sf_02_58-1.jpg
Capacity: 4 bullets
Power: Very high
Recoil: High
Precision: Standard
Weight: Standard

Benelli M1
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f6/Starkid101/sf_02_58.jpg
Capacity: 7 bullets
Power: Very high
Recoil: Very high
Precision: Low
Weight: Very low
Rate of fire:Very low

I myself play with a Benelli M1 since of its light weight, 7 bullets capacity and high damage.

Now the shotgun has many advantages to it but a lot of cons as well. Here is a list:

PRO and CON

Pros
-Super high damage at close range
-Kills opponents in about two shots(close)
-Can spray kill an opponent with low health far away
-Shoot while reloading

Cons
-Bad damage at far range
-Horrible reload time
-Gets killed if not experienced
-Easily dies from snipers
-Extremely slow shooting rate

So as you can see, the cons outweigh the pros. However, if mastered, the shotgun will help you in many places and bring you many wins. If missused, you will basically never win.

Using your Shotgun

Developing your skills by using a shotgun means many things. Here's a few things you need to know before you start playing it.

Recoil: Recoil is very strong on shotguns. This means everytime you shoot, your crosshair will literally fly up.

Reloading: Reloading with a shotgun is easy. All you need to do is press R. If you want to shoot while reloading, simply click, however make sure you have some bullets before doing this.

Moving speed:If you use a shotgun when you have a sniper, try to run with the shotgun since you will move alot faster.

Close Range:Shotguns do maximum damage at close range. Two shots will completely kill off your opponent if all of your shots hit.

Far Range:Use another gun at far range since using a shotgun will cause your shots to scatter all over.

So now that you know what your gun can do, you should try testing it out.

You need to know that shotguns will become extremely difficult to use if you don't repair it alot since they will become VERY inaccurate.

Here are a few things your shotgun can do and cannot do/

CAN DO
-Can Spray kill

-Can Kill in 2 shots

-Can Shoot while reloading

-Can do 50 damage per shot

-Can shoot around 8 bullets at a time

CAN NOT

-Take out enemy sniper at far range

-Guard a submarine well

-Spray kill person with full health

-Shoot if 0 bullets and reloading

-Zoom in onto target

Knowing about your environment is also important for a shotgun.

Environmental Advantages

Environmental Advantages can help you become an effective shotgun user. So what does this mean? Well, there are three things you need to learn about the environments.

1.Hiding

2.Charging

3.Reloading

Let's start with the first one, Hiding.

Using a shotgun means that you must hide alot in order to avoid being killed by a sniper. There are many objects to look out for when you hide that can provide you cover or allow you to lie in waiting and then popping up to surprise your opponent.

Here are the objects to look out for:

-Boxes

-Crates

-Walls

-Beams

-Counters*This is extremely important to a Shotgun because you can hide completely without being seen and then pop out to kill your opponent.

-Underground passages

-Behind door

-Next to door

-Crouching under window with crosshair pointing at it.

So, these are basic places for you to hide under. Hiding is an important strategy since you can throw an opponent off guard and killing them.

Now there are ALSO places where you should NOT hide.

Here is a life:

-Rooftop

-Ladder

-Beams near ceiling

-Railings

-Open fields

-Archway under bridge.

So why do you think you shouldn't hide here? Well, shooting with a shotgun means putting up with widely spread shots that are not very accurate unless at very close range.

Far range=Spray opponent with one bullet
Damage: 6

Close range=Shoot all bullets into opponent
Damage:40-90.

Sometimes, if you lucky and hit his head, your opponent will die.

Take advantage of EVERY hiding place you can because it can mean a life and death situation.

There are times you can hide at far range and spray your opponent till they die. I have only done this once. You might find this quite hard since your bullets will scatter everywhere and some might even fly out at a 45 degree angle.

Spraying should only be done if,

-Your opponent has less thatn 20 health

-Your opponent will not discover your location

-If you are protected from ALL sides

-If you cannot approach your opponent without getting shot.

This is why I would select a sniper first and not use Shotgun as my main but that is up to you.

If you use a shotgun as your main, I hope you are very experienced at it or you will have alot of problems.

Attacking

Attacking is a major role of a shotgun. Here are a few things you should know.

SOLO SHOTGUN

I do not reccomend this unless you are very familiar with the map.

Here is a Pro and Con chart about Soloing with a Shotgun

Pros

-Very versatile
-Less chance of being spotted
-Better chancee of getting a kill
-Won't get ksed by teammate
-Movement more silent

Cons

-Die from Double Team
-Die from sniper
-Die if not experienced
-No one can help you
-Unable to take out enemies at far range

So as you can see, there are the same amount of pros and cons.

This is the list for TEAM BATTLES:

Pros
-80% chance of killing enemy
-can take on double team
-big help if you are the only two left in game
-can take out a mob in 2vs3
-greater chance of winning game
-superior damage

Cons
-Easily spotted
-Easily grenaded
-Getting ksed

So as you can see, there are much more pros than cons. Does it mean you should be a Soloist? You decide.

Attacking is all about being aggresive with a shotgun.

This means that you must take out your opponent no matter what the cost.

So let me tell you a little about attacking.

Being a shotgun means that you are the back-up trooper who stays and follows there teammates.

Here are a few tips to Attacking

-Try to stay behind and guard your teammates' back

-Approach your opponents while you teammate attacks from a range

-Being effective as a shotgun means knowing where to shoot

-Try to not go for the legs and try to shoot the upper torso

-Reload when you have one bullet left

-Don't always aim for the head since you will miss 70% of your bullets

-Taking out your opponent from far range because you will most likely get shot first

-Grenading with a flashbang or smoke grenade and then approaching for a kill is very effective

-Be on the watch for any signs of movement

-Look for any places where your opponent can hide

Shotguns have a extremely high damage rate.

Now hitting certain areas of the body will allow you to kill your opponent in a certain amount of shots.

Here is a list:

Head-1 BL

Torso-2 BL

Waist:-2-3 BL

Upper Leg: 8 BL

Lower Leg: N/A

So as you can see head shots are the most effective since they do the most damage. However, the percentages of accomplishing a headshot are extremely hard to pull.

Shooting the torso or chest is the best way to kill off your opponent and hitting the waist can be efficient and well.

Defending

Defending is different from attacking.

There are different defensive positions for each map. However, I will only list two.

Hospital

-Windows(Crouching beneath)

-Trucks

-Garbage cans

-Boxes

-Corners

So as you can see, these are all positions to surprise your opponents and take them out.

Knowing when to pop out is also very important.

Popping out BEFORE the opponent passes you is not very good since they might be able to shoot you down before you get them.

IF you pop out before them, they might crouch down to shoot you. I suggest you to not crouch since they might kill you. Just get as close to them as possible and blast two shots into them.

This is not very efficient since you need to defend and kill off ALL your opponents to win the game.

Popping out AFTER is better that before since you opponent will not:

-Be on Guard

-Turn around fast enough to strike back

-Live long enough to take you out

-Be focused enough who is shooting at them

-Expect this to happen to them

And the percentage of you surviving is very high

If you see two people come to you at the same time, simply throw a flashbang and kill them before they get you OR pop in a smoke grenade and launch all your grenades to kill them.

I find option to more effective since flashbangs can be avoided. Also, you might even flash yourself in the process.

This should only be done if,

-In underground passage

-Behind a box

-Guarding a tank

-Inside a warehouse

-Railings

-Alley

-Passageway

-A closed corner where your opponent is

Just be sure not to approach your opponent when you launch your grenades since you might hurt yourself in the process.

If more than three people have a shotgun with them, look for the very important passageway and then have everyone fire at your opponent. This will most likely kill them since all the bullets will cover a WIDE range and provides a rain of bullets.

Try to spread out evenly for best results. You can also have two people bending while another person standing behind.

The negatives of this is that all types of grenades will come at you.

Shanghai

I find this place EXTREMELY difficult to defend with a shotgun. Defending in this place is kind of like attacking.

Try to constantly hide and look out for your opponent, then you can sneak around him and blast a couple of round into him.

Here are things to Look Out for:

-Boxes

-Wooden crates

-Warehouse behind dock

-Your spawn place

-Office building near your spawn

-Triple dumpsters

-Railings

-Doors

These are pretty much the main places where your opponent is hiding. However, taking out an enemy sniper can be a challenge.

Snipers are mostly in the Alleyways, Dock, Crates and Your Spawn point.

If the enemy sniper has a rank such as a a lieutenant, then they most likely will be a pro sniper or a very knowledgable at there second weapon.

Taking them out can be a very hard challenge since they will most likely take you out in two shots.

So what should you do?

Here are a few ideas to avoid getting shot

-Running straight and then jumping side to side

-Approaching in a zig zag

-Approaching in a zig zag AND shootin'

-Circling around them

-Chucking a flash or a smoke

So now you know what to do when this situation happens to you.

Be on the lookout for anyone who tries to approach the submarine. If they get close, switch to your first weapon.

While I believe this guide is great with good information, I find myself believe that this guide will hurt more than it'll help. Seeing noobs running around with Remington's.....easy kills and all. Although I do have to congradulate you on your excellently written guide. Must have taken a while, yeah?

Introduction

Shotgun is a secondary weapon that many people choose to equip because of its insane damages at close range and shooting while reloading clips.

However, many people treat the shotgun like a secondary weapon. There are some who use shotgun as their primary weapon. So to those who don't know the true power and effects of using a shotgun, this guide was made just for you.

Since this guide was made in CB, here are the two types of shotguns:

Remington M870
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f6/Starkid101/sf_02_58-1.jpg
Capacity: 4 bullets
Power: Very high
Recoil: High
Precision: Standard
Weight: Standard

Benelli M1
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f6/Starkid101/sf_02_58.jpg
Capacity: 7 bullets
Power: Very high
Recoil: Very high
Precision: Low
Weight: Very low
Rate of fire:Very low

I myself play with a Benelli M1 since of its light weight, 7 bullets capacity and high damage.

Now the shotgun has many advantages to it but a lot of cons as well. Here is a list:

PRO and CON

Pros
-Super high damage at close range
-Kills opponents in about two shots(close)
-Can spray kill an opponent with low health far away
-Shoot while reloading

Cons
-Bad damage at far range
-Horrible reload time
-Gets killed if not experienced
-Easily dies from snipers
-Extremely slow shooting rate

So as you can see, the cons outweigh the pros. However, if mastered, the shotgun will help you in many places and bring you many wins. If missused, you will basically never win.

Using your Shotgun

Developing your skills by using a shotgun means many things. Here's a few things you need to know before you start playing it.

Recoil: Recoil is very strong on shotguns. This means everytime you shoot, your crosshair will literally fly up.

Reloading: Reloading with a shotgun is easy. All you need to do is press R. If you want to shoot while reloading, simply click, however make sure you have some bullets before doing this.

Moving speed:If you use a shotgun when you have a sniper, try to run with the shotgun since you will move alot faster.

Close Range:Shotguns do maximum damage at close range. Two shots will completely kill off your opponent if all of your shots hit.

Far Range:Use another gun at far range since using a shotgun will cause your shots to scatter all over.

So now that you know what your gun can do, you should try testing it out.

You need to know that shotguns will become extremely difficult to use if you don't repair it alot since they will become VERY inaccurate.

Here are a few things your shotgun can do and cannot do/

CAN DO
-Can Spray kill

-Can Kill in 2 shots

-Can Shoot while reloading

-Can do 50 damage per shot

-Can shoot around 8 bullets at a time

CAN NOT

-Take out enemy sniper at far range

-Guard a submarine well

-Spray kill person with full health

-Shoot if 0 bullets and reloading

-Zoom in onto target

Knowing about your environment is also important for a shotgun.

Environmental Advantages

Environmental Advantages can help you become an effective shotgun user. So what does this mean? Well, there are three things you need to learn about the environments.

1.Hiding

2.Charging

3.Reloading

Let's start with the first one, Hiding.

Using a shotgun means that you must hide alot in order to avoid being killed by a sniper. There are many objects to look out for when you hide that can provide you cover or allow you to lie in waiting and then popping up to surprise your opponent.

Here are the objects to look out for:

-Boxes

-Crates

-Walls

-Beams

-Counters*This is extremely important to a Shotgun because you can hide completely without being seen and then pop out to kill your opponent.

-Underground passages

-Behind door

-Next to door

-Crouching under window with crosshair pointing at it.

So, these are basic places for you to hide under. Hiding is an important strategy since you can throw an opponent off guard and killing them.

Now there are ALSO places where you should NOT hide.

Here is a life:

-Rooftop

-Ladder

-Beams near ceiling

-Railings

-Open fields

-Archway under bridge.

So why do you think you shouldn't hide here? Well, shooting with a shotgun means putting up with widely spread shots that are not very accurate unless at very close range.

Far range=Spray opponent with one bullet
Damage: 6

Close range=Shoot all bullets into opponent
Damage:40-90.

Spraying should only be done if,

-Your opponent has less thatn 20 health

-Your opponent will not discover your location

-If you are protected from ALL sides

-If you cannot approach your opponent without getting shot.

This is why I would select a sniper first and not use Shotgun as my main but that is up to you.

If you use a shotgun as your main, I hope you are very experienced at it or you will have alot of problems.

you forgot that shotgun can kill multiple enemies at about 5 or 10 meter distance (shots spread out and can hit multiple enemies if they're very close together like in beginning of shang battle xD).

thx Pond. Lol shotgunsticky, u finally posted smoething useful. NIce guide. But u forgot to add that the shotguns r extremely expenseive. Benelli 33000 remmington 43000. (im pretty sure those r the right prices) i would rather get an AK or FR than a shotgun. Cheaper and easier kills

I've tried using a Remington as my main, I went 13-5, which I thought was very impressive. I remember this guide, was posted a long, long, long time ago...nice to see it back up in the front page.
