For guys who lives in the UK.

I'm not sure if it's real or a prank so help me out please cuz i'm kinda
worried.

I got a phone call from the DVLA saying that a camera caught me speeding.

They first asked if my name was '...' and also what car i drive. So I told em yes that's my name and that I drive a honda civic. Then they said a camera caught me speeding and it came up on
their computer.

For some stupid reason I asked whether i was in trouble or not lol, but they said no. So that
kinda got me abit confused. And then they asked me if I was over taking someone or some shizzle like that. Then they started saying stuff like an £80 fine and that.

The phone they rang me on was a 'witheld' number, so it could've been a prank.
Also they knew my name.
So i'm not sure if it's real or a prank cuz I usually get paranoid about these kind of
things.

I was just wondering whether the DVLA are the ones to inform you if i've been caught by a speed camera, and also if they would ring you on a witheld number.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh i'm so paranoid i don't want my points being taken off

i don't think the DVLA would phone u for a traffic offense. imagine them doing that for EVERY offense... won't be possible. i think someone was just messing with u.

I'd phone them and ask if that's standard procedure, sounds fishy to me.

I'm not from UK either, but here when you caught that way, they send a letter home, tell you to go to the police station in a day they specify and they tell you why, and show you the proof. Now, calling you home, telling you where caught speeding and that wasn't a problem it's kind of stupid, what was the purpose of the call then? It's like you phone company called you home and when you picked up the phone they asked you if you telephone was working. :/

if it's real you'll end up in jail.

if it's not u can save 80 english whatever dollars.

100% prank why would they ask you for your name and car?
if they had your number they probably should have already known the name and car of the person they were calling.
