Survival Guide Introduction:

This guide was originally posted the day the survival guide came out for ijji Gunz the Duel on 7/28/09. The original thread can be found here:

This guide consists on an explanation of what Survival mode is and what the different aspects of the game means, techniques which can be used for how to beat it, tips from other pro questers, and video guides and examples for how to beat certain survival maps. This guide is brought to you by Chihakuryu, admin of Innovation, and by many other people from the Gunz community.

What is Survival Mode?

Survival Mode is almost like an endless quest. Instead of playing for items, players play to test out their true skills as questers. There are three types of survival – Mansion, Prison, and Dungeon. All survival maps consist of 5 different stages which cycle over and over again until you reach the final stage – stage 100. The farther you get, and the more kills you make, the more points you gain for survival. These points then get accumulated individually in which later players are then ranked according to how many points they have racked up. Due to this, just because someone has a lot of survival points, it doesn’t equate that they are survival pros, but rather that they have played survival more than others. Points only get added once a player has reach over 1000 points. Anything below that gets discarded and nothing becomes of it.

If you look at the image below, you’ll notice that this person died on stage 1, making 0 points and 0 experience and bounty. The more kills you get the more points you accumulate, the more stages you complete the more experience and bounty you accumulate.

Basic Tips

1. You can kill the boss fast and then skip all the npcs and go in the portal to the next stage.
2. You can kill all the npcs first since they are only 29 of them and then focus on the boss.
3. The npcs gradually become stronger and the number of bigger npcs also gradually increase as well.
4. Only take hp/ap/ammo when you need it since it is limited.
5. If you die let your team mates know right away. I advise using a macro.
6. Take the time to rest at the end of each stage if all the npcs are dead.
7. Try and talk with your team mates before you start a game. Communication is key.

Stage 1 is stage 4 of page 65/cave with the two rooms

Stage 1 Tips

1. Boss will spawn in the small room. The boss is a mini aneramon.
2. No other mini Aneramons will ever spawn on this stage, however many mini superions will.
3. Since more npcs spawn in the bigger room it's best to play 2-3 people go in the big room and 1-2 stay in the small room. Iif the person in the small room dies then someone switches. If all the npcs are dead then all focus on boss.

Stage 2 Tips

1. Boss will spawn in the first part of the map where you spawn. The boss is a full size superion.
2. Have 2-3 people go out and kill the other npcs while 1 person just focuses on the boss.
3. If the person focusing on the boss dies, make sure someone replaces them.
4. If all the npcs are dead, then have 1 person lock the boss while the rest shoot.

Stage 3 Tips

1. Boss will spawn in the start on the stairs. The boss is Aneramon.
2. It's pretty easy to kill all the npcs first before focusing on the boss. 1 person should try and distract the boss near the start.
3. There should be one person near the start to help distract the boss if the distracter dies.
4. The other 2 should be near the top of the stairs and kill the other npcs, especially the mini Aneramons.

Stage 4 Tips

1. Boss will spawn where the Superion spawns in normal questing. The boss is lich.
2. Have 1 person distract the lich while 2 other people go near the lich and shoot the lich.
3. Have the last person mob all the other npcs.

Stage 5 Tips

1. The boss will spawn where the lich usually spawns. The boss is lich.
2. 2 people should rush to the stairs, back against the wall and shoot the lich only.
3. 1 person should start near where the lich starts and distract the lich.
4. 1 person should start near the middle and slowly mob all the npcs to the start of the map.
5. If 2 of the big npc bosses (either 2 big aneramons, 1 aneramon and 1 superion, or 2 suerpions), then the mobber should kill the npcs until just the 2 big npcs and the boss is left.
6. If 2 of the big npc bosses, be aware that 2 npcs will spawn on the stairs after you start killing npcs.
7. If the person distracting the bosses dies then someone should quickly replace them.
8. If only 1 big npc spawns with the boss or none do, then DON’T KILL ANY NPCS, UNLESS YOU NEED AMMO. If you kill npcs, then there is a high chance that the big npcs will spawn. The lich boss is way easier without having to worry about the bigger npcs.

Prison

Stage 1 is stage 1 for the prison idol boss. (too lazy to check what stage or what page lol)


Stage 2 is stage 1 for page 65/stage 1 for lizard boss


Stage 3 is stage 3 for page 65/the long hallway


Stage 4 is stage 2 for page 65/stage 2 for lizard


Stage 5 is stage 1 for page 41/golem boss stage



Stage 1 Tips

1. The boss will spawn in the small room. It's a red lizard. This stage is fairly easy.
2. 2 people should stay in the start and kill the boss while the other 2 kill the other npcs in the hallway to make it less crowded near the boss.

Stage 2 Tips

1. The boss will spawn where you spawn in the start. It's also a lizard.
2. Have 2 people stay near the boss and 2 others cross to the otherside to kill the npcs.

Stage 3 Tips

1. Boss is the giant red lizard which spawns at the point where you spawn at the start.
2. Play this boss like you would the lizard boss but focus on the npcs first.
3. It’s much easier if 1 person distracts the boss in the first half of the map while the other 3 cross over and kill npcs.

Stage 4 Tips

1. Boss will spawn in the big dining room. It's a mini golem.
2. Have 1-2 people go in the dining room and 2 people in the hall until all npcs are dead.
3. Those in the hall should try and kill all the npcs possible in the hallway. After that, they should focus their fire from a distance at the npcs in the dinning room.
4. Once all the npcs are dead, have someone lock the golem while the rest shoot.
5. If all your team mates are dead, go in and out of the hallway and dining room to dodge the attks of the golem.

Stage 5 Tips

1. Boss will spawn on far side under lamp. Boss is the full size golem.
2. Careful of the giant lizard that will also spawn in the later stages.
3. It's good to have someone on the team who knows how to solo the golem on your team.
4. If the big lizard doesn’t spawn, DON’T KILL ANY NPCS and just have someone lock the golem and 2 shoot while 1 person mobs all the other npcs.
5. If a giant lizard spawns, kill all the npcs first.
6. When all npcs are dead, have 1 person lock the lizard, 1 person lock the golem, and 2 people shoot the golem.

Mansion

Stage 1 is the U shaped map


Stage 2 is the first basement map


Stage 3 is the second basement map


Stage 4 is the library


Stage 5 is the hall


Stage 1 Tips

1. The boss will spawn in the hallway in which you start. It's a mini dwarf goblin king.
2. To play safe kill all the shooters/healers/shamans first.
3. It's still really easy to kill the boss with 4 people right away and skip the npcs.
4. In later stages, have 2 people focus on the npcs away from the boss and 2 people focus on the boss.

Stage 2 Tips

1. The boss will spawn in the middle of the map. It's a mini thunder goblin king.
2. Same as stage 1, kill all the shooters/healers/shamans first and then the boss or have everyone just shoot the boss.

Stage 3 Tips

1. The boss is the goblin king however there are more mini dgk and mini tgk npcs as well as shamans.
2. As the stages gets harder, kill the npcs first and then kill the boss to avoid getting hammered by accident.

Stage 4 Tips

1. The boss is the thunder goblin king which will spawn in the middle.
2. Kill all the shamans first. If you are not stunned you can avoid hammer smashes quickly, but if they stun you it can become quite dangerous.

Stage 5 Tips

1. The TGK and GK will spawn in the same point where the mansion bosses normally spawn.
2. Ignore the GK if poissble since it's hp/ap is way stronger than normal.
3. Kill all npcs first.
4. If you are playing with a team of 2-4, when it's just the gk and tgk alive have 1 person focus on the gk and one on the tgk.

3. Don’t take ammo/hp/ap spawns when you don’t need them. Ammo/hp/ap is scarce so don’t take it if you don’t need it.

4. Don’t bring shot guns or low ammo guns. You’ll need as much ammo possible if you want to beat it.
5. If you die, ALWAYS tell your team mates.

6. After stage 70, don’t try and kill the other npcs after the boss is dead, just go into the portal.
